A Geneva, Illinois teacher was given a warning letter for offensive remarks made in class. According to published reports, while talking about the National Endowment for the Arts the teacher said “‘How would you feel about your tax dollars going to pay some black fag in New York to take pictures of other black fags?”
A warning letter.
Seriously?
According to the report, the teacher in questions earned over $100, 000 last year.
It’s good to know that the city of Lake Geneva supports the use of racial and homophobic slurs. Too bad he used the word “black” — maybe they’d have given him a raise if he’d used the n-word.

I hope some kid said, “As long as they’re atheisists I’m cool with it.”

The teacher probably has tenure (he’s clearly been teaching since the Stone Age, hence his prehistoric mindset). He’d have to dynamite the school before he gets fired. That’s also probably why he earns so much.
Side memory: I had an eighth-grade history teacher who called David Bowie a fag. Strangely, I didn’t care for that teacher much…

Yeah , I read about it , but the Tribune did not print what he said , this teacher has been teaching bigotry at this school for 20 years and apparently the school board wants to keep it in the curriculum.

If he’d used the n-word there would have been a huge backlash and prominent people would have called for his head. But fag? Meh, just a mild letter of reprimand to make the fag-lovers happy.
