“Wow! Look at all the amazing pics of readers’ jack o’lanterns,” the blogging faggot said, tongue firmly in cheek.
Ahem.
The more astute amongst you will ascertain that this is my way of saying that as of this post, I have not received a single fucking pumpkin pic.
Sigh.
So I did the same thing that I did last year: I went out, bought some gourds, smacked one down in front of DuShawn and informed him that he would be carving some rich pumpkiny goodness for me.
And he did.
Behold DuShawn’s Creature From the Black Lagoon:
And then there’s my kick-off of the season. Originally conceived as the first in a trilogy of Spiderman pumpkins (Spidey and my beloved Gwen Stacy rounding out the threesome), this one proved to be such a mother fucking headache that I quickly scrubbed those plans. Behold my less than stellar 2008 inaugural effort:
Feeling inspired? What are you waiting for? There’s still time to send in your pumpkin carving efforts! The address hasn’t changed: dirk.mancuso@gmail.com
I’m waiting…

Maybe the reason nobody sends Punkin Pics is because yours are so fucking creative and wonderful that ours would look like they were done by a five year old.
The frost is on the Punkin and the fodders in the shock. You can hear the kyouk and gobble of the struttin’ Turkey cock. (I do loves me a struttin’ Cock)

I’d send pics of ours, but I’m thinking you’re not gonna be that impressed with the round eyed, smiling pumpkin my 5yo insisted on because he didn’t want to scare anyone.
Dirk says: …pumpkins of all kinds are welcome, Loelie — they don’t have to be super creative. The basic kinds are some of the best.

DuShawn? He’s decided to carve pumpkins with you again? When did he realize he was being a bit of an ass towards you? Whatever the details, I’m happy you have your carving buddy back.
Looking forward to the Gwen Stacy gourd.
Dirk says: …things are still a bit tentative in the truce area, but I believe he waved the white flag mostly ’cause he loves Halloween so much and wanted to carve pumpkins. I can see where we may return to frostier climes come November 1st.

my past attempts at ‘punkin carvin’ resulted in lots of cursing, a big old mess, and a lopsided rendition of just a run-of-the-mill jack-o-lantern. So, yeah……I won’t be submitting any pics this year cuz I don’t do punkins.
Dirk says: …if you create it with love, there ain’t nothing run-of-the-mill to it, catrina.

I might try to carve a pumpkin, but it will be too late to submit to your fritzy little contest. So suck it.
Dirk says: …for you, Aaron, I would run it late. So there.

I actually grew four Punkins in my garden but a Groundhog ate one and took a large chunk out of another. Melon bugs tunneled through the others. I sat one on my Kitchen counter and over night it leaked out juice all over the countertop. Much to my surprise when I cleaned it up the juice had removed every stain even those that had been there for years. Now the countertop looks like new. maybe I have found a new super cleaner.
Dirk says: …look at my mascot going all Madame Curie in the household cleaning arena! You go with your bad self, Ed! (And don’t forget us little folk when you hit the big time, you hear?)

Are you sure the first pumpkin isn’t Jabba the Hutt?

Love both of them bad boys! I recognized the Monster immediately. Spiderman’s pose was a dead giveaway, although his head is a little court-jester looking for some reason.
Was gonna get a pumpkin, but didn’t. Don’t have one at all, isn’t that the saddest thing? If I come up with something I’ll send you a picture of it.

OK, but don’t say I didn’t warn you…I will try to submit it by Sunday…the Day After The Day of the Dead. (Which makes it the Day of the Stiff and Stinky, I suppose…)
