Uninspired Monday

I am feeling a terrible lack of enthusiasm for blogging today (maybe it’s the head cold I fear is coming on — everyone here has that fucker — or maybe it’s the fact that Ed summarily dissed me as boring yesterday) so the best I can do is offer up a few odds and ends…

~ Randy has managed to retain his job. How, no one is certain — but I talked to his secretary and she told me that there is an investigation going on because apparently he came to work drunk. More than once.

~ Tucker has a stuffed puppy named Fluffy that he carries everywhere and sleeps with. Here he is being adorable and shit:

~ Coffee Guy and I have dinner plans for Wednesday. He’s making chicken and I’m bringing a movie — WAITRESS. I am seriously considering making the bold move of holding his hand during the movie, but am not sure if that is too gay and will just make him laugh. Plus, my hands might be all sweaty from working up the nerve and he could be grossed out. And then there’s that whole “what if he just wants to be friends and I end up humiliated and have to come back here and tell you people about totally striking out” possibility. Because you know I’d have to — I tell you everything. Sighhhhhhhhh. “Maybe dating” is fraught with oh so many problems.

That’s all I have today. Tomorrow, maybe some pics…who knows. There’s a lot of pressure involved trying to win back a lapsed sidekick.

  1. Boring? You?!! Perish the thought!!!

    Tucker is sooooo cute!!! :)

    Good luck on date night!!

  2. Tucker IS adorable–and I bet he’d be delicious, too, with cherry and walnut stuffing! (Don’t tell Lola I made that joke–I think she’d fail to be amused…)

I think it’s safe to say that you and Coffee Guy are dating if he’s making dinner at his house…or at least, he’s open to the IDEA that this is “dating.” But in the meantime, you could always do “platonically intimate” gestures until you get your bearings: sitting close by him on the sofa to watch the movie (without actually rubbing up against him), etc. (If HE rubs against YOU, that takes things to another phase. Consult manual.)

  3. Awww Tucker is adorable. And I agree with Aaron, just sit close to him on the couch, see what happens.

  4. You have me with the Tucker pic!

  5. I think we all pretty much believe you and CG are dating, so my advice is to go ahead with whatever dating gesture you feel comfortable. Maybe at the moment holding his hand might not feel quite right, so don’t be wedded to that idea alone. Maybe you’ll feel moved to touch his arm or shoulder while talking. Whatever, just try to feel it and let it be natural.

Looking forward on Monday to Thursday’s post!

    Mark :-)

  6. Ed’s was the only comment you took to heart? Maybe Ed doesn’t like Y&R, but you know he (and LOTS of others) will come back every day to see what you have to say.
    Think positive!
As for CG, I think sitting close to him or putting a hand on his arm while standing in the kitchen may get a reaction one way or another. Just go with the flow…….

  7. Here’s hoping the head cold does not become a reality and that it lapses. What a cute picture of Tucker! I hear you loud and clear on your thoughts that you’re pondering with Coffee Guy!

  8. I love me some Tucker. Cram some echinacea and vitamin c, you don’t want to have a full blown snot fest while you’re at coffee guy’s.

  9. Too gay???? Holding hands is too gay???? Hmmm, makes me start to wonder what I do in a relationship that’s “too straight…”!

  10. Tucker’s adorable! And Ed’s just mad cuz I made him get out of his cage and clean another blogger’s house. He’s been very disobedient as of recent :P

  11. You had me at Hello Dirk, You never have to worry about me. I’ll always be on your side. I was just feeling peckish yesterday because nobody likes my daytime drama All My Children. I’ve watched it since 1970 and helped Erica through alcohol and drug abuse and countless marriages. Anyway, I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings. You know I’d rather punch my eyes out with a stick than cause you pain.
Now with CG why would you be afraid to be too Gay? You are Gay. I should hold his hand during the movie, trust me even close friends hold hands. I’m thinking he will respond in a very good way.
Now I’m feeling bad because your sad, Dirk, I would walk through Hell wearing a Gasoline suit if you asked me too. A big gay but not too gay hug and a platonic kiss Mmuuahhh!

  12. Message to Ed: I’m an AMC fan, too, so maybe when Dirk posts about Y&R your comment could be an update on AMC. You’re both happy, and I’m happier! :-)

  13. Tucker is adorable. Is that stuffed puppy actually bigger than Tucker? It sort of looks like it in this picture.

Here’s another idea for Wednesday’s dinner/movie snuggle fest: nibble on his ear! See where that leads. OK, that might be too fast. It might lead to you with a black eye, or sitting out in the cold, alone. Never mind. On the other hand, it could lead to some serious snuggle time.

Never mind me. I just finished reading a sappy romance novel and am feeling frisky.

  14. Hmmm. Pay attention to what he does. We need more details here. Body language. Gesture. Conversation. Help us help you.

  15. I’ll bet he’ll be thrilled to hold your hand. Nike!!!!!

  16. Here’s a tried and true trick to try:

Pop in the movie, start it, and right after the copyright warning, pause it.

Turn to coffeeguy and say, “Um, before we watch this movie, what do you say we suck some dick first?”

If he agrees- bingo! If he looks at you like you are a freak, say “it was just a suggestion” and then start the movie back up.

The movie will cover any awkward silences and give you something to do.
